The Speedy Nano, the “mini bag” version of the iconic Speedy, has been a fan favorite since its original release in 1930 (initially launched as the “Express”). The recent mini bag trend has only boosted its popularity, especially among younger generations. But take a look at this new release from River Island — could it be a worthy, more affordable alternative?

The Manchester Evening News just spotted this new River Island bag, and it’s basically a lookalike of the Speedy Nano. It’s got a cherry blossom print that really gives off Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton vibes. And the price? Just £30! No wonder it’s flying off the shelves — apparently 43 people grabbed one in just two days.
(Just a quick note: Louis Vuitton did release a cherry blossom Speedy, but not in the Nano size.)
Size-wise, the River Island bag is 10 x 28 x 7.8 cm, while the Speedy Nano is just 16 x 10 x 7.5 cm — so yeah, the Nano’s quite a bit smaller. If you love the look of the Speedy Nano but felt it might be too tiny, the River Island’s LV Dupe could be a more practical pick. Obviously, they’re not identical, but both are small crossbody bags with that monogram look and a cute little handle.
River Island’s got a bunch of other dupes too — like ones that look a lot like the regular Speedy and even the Neverfull.
So, what do you think of the River Island’s Latest LV Dupe? Would you buy them or pass? Let me know your thoughts in the comments 🙋
