Louis Vuitton luggage tags are mainly made for travel bags and suitcases. However, some smaller everyday bags also come with one.
You can also buy luggage tags second-hand, but buying the classic plain tag directly from Louis Vuitton is not always easy.
Which Louis Vuitton products come with a luggage tag?
Most Louis Vuitton travel products come with a luggage tag. This includes:
- Keepall travel bags
- Rolling suitcases
- Hard-sided luggage
- Bisten cases
Some everyday bags also come with a tag, even though they are not really luggage.
Bags with a natural beige leather tag
Examples include:
The natural beige leather is untreated cowhide, often called vachetta. It becomes darker over time.
The Alma BB is probably one of the cheapest Louis Vuitton bags that currently comes with this type of leather accessory. Louis Vuitton describes it as a key bell rather than a luggage tag, but it has a similar look.
The High Rise is another relatively affordable bag that comes with a removable natural leather tag.
Bags with a black leather tag
Some bags with black leather trim come with a matching black tag.
Examples include:
- Keepall Bandoulière 55 in Monogram Macassar
- Atlantis BB
- Keepall Bandoulière 25 in Taurillon leather
- Speedy Soft 30 in Monogram Empreinte leather
Black leather does not develop the same dark patina as untreated beige leather.
Other types of tags
Some Louis Vuitton bags come with less traditional tags.
For example:
- The CarryAll BB has a treated brown leather tag.
- The CarryAll Travel Bag has a Monogram-covered tag.
- Some bag charms are designed to look like luggage tags, but they are decorative charms rather than traditional name tags.
Can you buy a Louis Vuitton luggage tag separately?
Louis Vuitton sells some standalone luggage tags.
In the UK, the Grand Tour Luggage Tag and Blason Luggage Tag can be bought directly from Louis Vuitton. They are proper leather luggage tags and can be hot stamped.
However, they are more decorative and more expensive than the simple tags that come with Keepalls and suitcases.
Can you buy the classic plain leather tag?
Usually, it is difficult.
Louis Vuitton often treats the classic plain luggage tag as a replacement part. This means the store may only sell one to someone who owns a bag or suitcase that originally came with a tag.
Some customers say their sales associate allowed them to buy one separately for around £30 to £50. However, this seems to depend on the store and the sales associate.
I asked a sales associate at Louis Vuitton Omotesando in Tokyo in 2025, but he would not sell me one separately.
So, in most cases, I would expect the answer to be no. Customers with a long purchase history or a good relationship with their sales associate may have a better chance.
Can owners of second-hand or vintage bags buy a replacement?
Possibly, but it is not guaranteed.
You may have a better chance if you bring the actual bag into the store and explain that its original luggage tag is missing.
The store may:
- inspect the bag;
- check whether the model originally came with a tag;
- ask about your purchase history;
- refuse to order the part.
It may depend on the store and the sales associate.
Asking for a replacement for a specific bag is more likely to work than simply asking to buy a loose tag.
Can Louis Vuitton stamp a second-hand tag?
This appears to be easier.
The store may first check that the tag is authentic. Results can also vary depending on the condition of the leather. Foil stamping may not work as well on older leather with a strong patina.
It is still not guaranteed, but getting an existing tag stamped seems easier than buying a new plain tag.
How much does a replacement luggage tag cost?
Louis Vuitton does not publish a standard price.
Some customers have reported paying around £30 to £50 in the UK.
However, these prices may be old, and some stores may not sell the tag at all.
Buying a second-hand Louis Vuitton luggage tag
Louis Vuitton luggage tags are widely available on:
- eBay
- consignment websites
- Facebook collector groups
A tag in good condition can cost more than $100. Clean, unstamped tags are often more expensive.
Tags with rare city stamps or special designs can also attract collectors. The Facebook group Elite Tag Hunters is dedicated to buying, selling and trading Louis Vuitton luggage tags.
Be careful when buying online. A loose luggage tag is easier to copy than a complete bag, so the Louis Vuitton logo alone does not prove that it is authentic.
What is the best way to get one?
The easiest options are:
- Buy a bag that already comes with a luggage tag.
- Buy an authentic tag second-hand.
- Ask Louis Vuitton for a replacement if you own an eligible bag.
- Buy one of Louis Vuitton’s standalone luggage tags.
