Pharrell Williams and Louis Vuitton collab in 2024 has brought a sensation to this year’s fashion trend. Pharrell Williams, the Grammy-winning artist, producer, and fashion icon, has left an indelible mark on the worlds of music and style. His unique blend of creativity and progressive design has made him a trailblazer in the realm of fashion collaborations. One of his most notable partnerships is with Louis Vuitton.
How It Started
Pharrell Williams’ collaboration with Marc Jacobs, the previous creative director of Louis Vuitton, traces back to 2004 when they worked on Louis Vuitton’s first ever sunglasses. Their “Millionaires” sunglasses became a huge hit. In 2006, Pharrell and Marc worked together again on jewellery. That was when Pharrell met the current Louis Vuitton’s CEO Pietro Beccari for the first time. Beccari approached Pharrell to invite him for its menswear creative director position which was vacant since 2021. Pharrell was appointed to the position in 2023 and his first collection was released that year.
Bringing Avant-Garde to the Classic Design
Pharrell Williams’ collection for Louis Vuitton challenged traditional notions of luxury and fashion. Drawing inspiration from his eclectic personal style and musical influences, Williams infused the collection with elements of streetwear, urban culture, and avant-garde design. The result was a fusion of high fashion and casualwear, blurring the boundaries between luxury and street style.
The Iconic “Millionaire” Sunglasses
One of the standout pieces from Pharrell Williams’ collection with Louis Vuitton is the “Millionaire” sunglasses. Featuring a bold and futuristic design with oversized frames and colourful lenses, the “Millionaire” sunglasses became an instant hit and a symbol of Pharrell’s influence in the fashion world. The sunglasses embodied the spirit of the collaboration—bold, daring, and ahead of its time.
“Millionaire Speedy”
In 2024, Pharrell released The Millionaire Speedy Bag, embodying the hustle mentality of Canal Street on Lower Manhattan, New York City. The bag is a handmade leather piece covered in a Monogram pattern painted in bright colours, available in red, green, yellow, blue, and brown. Unlike the original Speedy bag, this leather bag is buttery soft and almost squishy, made from supple grained calf leather and lined with lambskin. This bag is not available for general purchase in Louis Vuitton stores. Only top-tier Louis Vuitton clients have the opportunity to buy it, adding to its exclusivity and allure. The bag also caught a lot of attention due to its price, selling for $1 million. Since the release, the Speedy bag has gained popularity and has been seen on celebrities such as LeBron James, Jacob Elordi, and Tyler the Creator.
