I recently moved from a quieter, more uniform neighborhood to a livelier area with a lot more personality. There are more independently owned shops here – especially small restaurants and ethnic supermarkets – and while most places still take cards, I’ve started to run into situations where cash is the only option. So lately, I’ve found myself thinking about the top 5 Louis Vuitton compact wallets — and whether it’s time to carry a wallet again.
1. Envelope Business Card Holder
Best for: Minimalists who don’t carry coins often
- Super slim and compact — even smaller than the Rosalie.
- No exterior metal parts (like zippers or clasps), so no worries about scratches.
- Clean, minimal design – understated but functional.
- Layout: two card slots in front, one at the back, and one open gusseted compartment for coins and folded notes.
- Very affordable by LV standards ($315 in May 2025 – the cheapest on the list).
Downside: No zipper — coins may fall out if turned upside down.
2. Rosalie Coin Purse
Best for: Feminine style lovers who want a proper coin compartment
- Compact and rounded, with a classic button closure and soft shape.
- Comes in Monogram with pink or fuchsia interior, or in Empreinte leather with more color options. They just released vibrant editions in lime, pink, coral, and yellow-green — ughh I can’t get over it!!
- Secure zipped coin compartment + two card slots + gusseted section.
- Back pocket adds convenience for transit cards or folded receipts.
More structured and feminine — a bit thicker than the Envelope but more secure for coins.
3. Key Pouch (Clés)
Best for: Maximum versatility in a tiny format
- Not technically a wallet, but it works — fits up to 8 cards or folded notes and coins.
- Small zippered pouch with key ring — attaches to bags or belt loops.
- Very affordable ($340 in May 2025) and often a first LV piece for many.
No card slots — everything goes into one main compartment, so not ideal if you like things separated.
4. Coin Card Holder
Best for: Sleek, modern minimalists (often in the men’s section)
- Extremely slim (almost looks like a small notebook or diary) with a contemporary look.
- Four card slots on the outside and one zippered compartment, gusseted on one side.
- Available in a variety of colours, like black or more playful shades like lemonade or bright blue.
Great for gender-neutral style – less common than classic Monogram but very functional. If you want something different, this is it.
5. Recto Verso
Best for: All-in-one users who still want something compact
- Larger than others on this list, but still pocket-friendly.
- Front envelope-style snap pocket (great for coins).
- L-shaped zip compartment with a key ring inside – useful for key storage or attaching to a bag
- Four card slots and flat profile.
What I’m leaning toward
The best compact wallet really depends on how you use it. I personally lean toward the Envelope Business Card Holder because I don’t carry many coins that often and love how simple it is (and it is one of the most affordable options). But if I needed a zipper, I’d probably go for the Key Pouch – Rosalie is cute but probably too feminine for my taste.
